Aims

To provide young people with opportunities to identify and articulate their sexuality education needs, this study aims to enable young people to:

1. Identify the factors that inhibit and enable effective school-based sexuality education that promotes their sexual wellbeing;

2. Use innovative approaches to researching and articulating their sexual wellbeing needs, wants and desires;

3. Articulate how they access, navigate, and make sense of the expanding proliferation of information and values about human sexuality;

4. Become engaged in the development of innovative and engaging sexuality education to support the forthcoming Australian Curriculum.

To achieve these aims the project will address the following research questions:

  • What are young people’s views on school-based sexuality education and its contribution to promoting their sexual wellbeing?
  • How do young people make sense of the expanding proliferation of information and values about human sexuality?
  • What are young people’s sexual wellbeing needs, wants and desires?
  • How can young people be engaged in the development of innovative and engaging sexuality education?
